The Ragdoll Foundation
The Ragdoll Foundation supports the creation, appreciation, and awareness of imaginative and innovative work that reflects the world from a child’s point of view.
The charity, established in 1999, is supported by Ragdoll Productions.
During its 22-year history, the Foundation has provided nearly £2m in funding, of which £1.6m has supported 148 new projects through its Open Grants scheme. With the Foundation’s grant giving ending in 2022, its website needed a refresh to represent its change of direction.
The emphasis is changing from promoting grant applications to acting as an example of good practice, showing the impact of its legacy work and providing a resource for those looking for funding support in the future. For this reason, part of the brief was to make its funded projects searchable on the website.
As well as restructuring the website to fulfil the new aims, we reviewed the Ragdoll Foundation’s branding elements, whilst retaining the existing logo.
We designed a library of linked shapes, influenced by the logo design. These elements can be used in many different ways, combined with photographs and applied as a background pattern.
The colour palette and typography were also refreshed to create a modern and engaging design.
We always start a website project with a content-first approach. It includes developing a site plan that incorporates the main aims and goals of the project. During the next stage, we develop a wireframe prototype to test the structure and hierarchy of the content, this is then integrated with the visual design.
Great work! I really like your visual sense and understanding of what we wanted to achieve. You did an excellent job of consolidating our ideas into a contemporary website that fulfils our brief.
